Arianna Huffington: This Month's Book Club Pick: The Road From Ruin Charts the Path to Capitalism 2.0

2010-03-11-road_from_ruin2.jpg

Arianna Huffington: Matthew Bishop, the U.S. business editor of The Economist, has described himself as a "card-carrying capitalist," so it's a little surprising to pick up his new book, The Road from Ruin, turn to the cover flap and read the opening salvo (served up in bright blue lettering): "We Have a World Class Mess...Now What?" Having a business editor of The Economist start things off with such a frank admission of "the fundamental flaws in the way we do capitalism" is one of the main reasons I've picked The Road From Ruin as this month's HuffPost Book Club selection. An open, orthodoxy-free conversation about how we can fix our broken financial system is exactly what we need. Reading The Road From Ruin -- and joining in our month-long discussion about it -- is a great way to start. Click here to read more.

Matthew Bishop: The Road From Ruin: Wake Up, You Can Fix This Financial Mess

Obama called for innovation and that's what it will take to fix this broken system, so where are the big new ideas about building a financial sector that can support real job and wealth creation rather than the phantom growth?

Adam McKay: An Open Letter to the State of Alabama

Why would Senator Shelby oppose the Consumer Financial Protection Agency and fight against the interests of the people of Alabama? Simple. Cause the banks and credit card companies give him a ton of cash.

Stacy Mitchell: Big Banks Want You Back

Those who wonder whether public anger at big banks and the Move Your Money sentiment sweeping the country is substantial enough to impact these giants need only look at their new marketing approach.

Jon Soltz: Immigration and Our Military

By offering a path to citizenship for the many undocumented immigrants that are in our country right now, we are giving them a path to become more active in American life -- including military service.

Keli Goff: Redefining "Racist" in the Rather Complicated Age of Obama

I would agree with Mr. Rather on one point he attempted to make in defense of himself. I do think that the media is complicit in getting the story of race in the Age of Obama wrong.
